Good Morning America Shows How Our Neon Is Made 🌅

ABC's Good Morning America came by the studio to see how neon is made! The feature ran in February 2020, back when we were still called NAME GLO.

Our cofounders Lena Imamura and Sas Simon walked the GMA team through the process. As Sas put it, neon is essentially "glass that's bent over fire to create a shape," and then it's pumped with gas to light up. We even made the crew their own GMA sign.

The story covered how Lena and Sas started the studio in 2014 because they couldn't find neon online that felt personal or accessible, and how we brought a feminine touch to a trade that had mostly been run by men. It also mentioned our time as artists in residence at Bergdorf Goodman, where we created an immersive neon and candy installation at the store's New York flagship.

A lot has changed since then (new name, new home in Chinatown!) but the way we make glass neon by hand is the same.
