The Covid-19 pandemic has affected each and every one of us. Whether physically, emotionally, or mentally this unprecedented time has spared no one. As native New Yorkers, in the eye of the storm we felt we had to turn our attention to attempt to be helpful during these trying times, thus began our “NY’s Kindest” Project face shield.
We rallied our community of friends and makers to use their 3D printers and available equipment and materials to create face shields, with the assistance of the medical community to make certain that the shields were up to safety standards.
Once we had all the parts in place, we reached out to our family, friends, and community for donations to help us increase our production and buy more supplies, and from there we were really able to get to work! Since then, we have assembled and delivered thousands of face shields to frontline workers, and we couldn’t do it without your help. Follow along on Instagram
to our “Covid-19” highlight to see our NY’s Kindest efforts in action.
Those who donated were even give a chance to write a special note to frontline workers, which we designed and had printed and sent over with each shield delivery.
The project caught the eye of one of our founder’s alma matter, Cooper Union. Lena has truly spearheaded this movement, you can read up here on her interview and how the shift in our focus at NAME GLO took place.
As a small business we have had to really dig deep about who we are and who we want to be, and our NY’s Kindest Campaign has taught us that we aim to affect and light up lives, no matter what the medium.
