At GLO Studio, we’re all about creating spaces that feel alive with warmth, purpose, and light. Recently, we had the opportunity to bring that ethos to a meaningful project: a custom neon installation for George to the Rescue, with George Oliphant. This special episode focuses on The Bowery Mission, a cornerstone nonprofit that’s served New Yorkers in need for over 140 years, providing hot meals, shelter, and faith-based support to those experiencing homelessness. Our piece, a glass neon sign that reads “A Place to Flourish,” now lights up The Bowery Mission’s staff lounge. This new space, thanks to the collective work of George to the Rescue, GLO Studio, RAMSA Architects, and SilverLining, offers a retreat for their dedicated team. Our hope is that this sign does more than illuminate the room; it serves as a reminder of The Bowery Mission’s spirit—a safe haven for growth and renewal, welcoming anyone who walks through their doors.
Our founder, Lena, once lived just across the street from The Bowery Mission and even spent time volunteering there, so this project was especially close to our hearts. It’s a true reflection of our commitment to the neighborhood and the incredible people who bring it to life. In our 10 years of illuminating the world, this neon will always hold special place in our hearts. It's a glowing testament to our mission of lighting up lives, both internally and externally. And let's be real, seeing our work contribute to such a meaningful cause? That's what truly makes us shine.
We extend our deepest thanks to George and his team, The Bowery Mission, RAMSA Architects, and SilverLining, for allowing us to be part of this impactful transformation. It’s projects like these that remind us why we do what we do at GLO Studio—bringing light to places that need it most.
