Neon for Bars and Restaurants: What Works and Why 🍸

By Lena Imamura, founder and artist at GLO Studio

Neon has lit up bars for about a hundred years. We've made coral neon window frames for Zanmi, a glass neon logo for Bar Strega and custom neon for the House of Peroni store on the Bowery during New York Fashion Week.

Use the window

A neon sign in the window tells people you're open and pulls them in from the sidewalk. At Zanmi, we made coral neon frames for the windows, so the storefront glows at night.

Make your logo the hero

A glass neon version of your logo behind the bar becomes part of your identity. Bar Strega's glass neon logo is a good example.

Give guests a photo spot

A phrase or drawing on a wall away from the bar gives people a reason to take a picture and tag you.

Glass neon for the classic look

For bars, glass neon is usually the way to go. The warm glow suits the room, and when it's mounted out of reach it lasts for years. LED is a good choice for spots where it might get bumped.
